March 2018’s Harpy Agenda microgrant is awarded to Vernieda Vergara, writing at Comics MNT

We are delighted to award March’s microgrant to a stellar piece of investigative, well researched reporting – Vernieda Vergara’s When All That Glitters Is Not Gold: Webtoon Creators vs. Lezhin Comics, published on Comics MNT.

Vergara’s piece examined the exploitative business practices of Lezhin Comics, a Korean webtoon company. It was a thorough and focused summary of a significant event in the international comics scene, that had been under-discussed by the majority of Western comics writing outlets, and a good reminder of the importance of creator rights.

Previously a Patreon-only news outlet, Comics MNT has just launched their new site this week, and we are excited to see it grow and become a source of excellent criticism with an amazing roster of writers and critics.
